As a website designer, one of the main problems in putting up a good website that is actually representative of the company is images and graphics. and if you haven’t guessed, these items are what really make the look of any website complete. Otherwise the site looks boring and dated.
Why? Because busy small business owners do not spend the time to get this part of their business done.
Since we work with local companies, I often offer to go to the customer’s business and gather/take photos to use on their website. This is always an appreciated and usually fairly unique level of customer service. BUT, the sad truth is that the owner or manager still usually takes over 6 months to be prepared for us to come and actually take photos.
What next? Usually this means searching for non trademark photos or graphics on google and using the best option.
Problem! This does not brand the website to the business.
It would be like doing a website for a bar and putting up pictures of another bar that seems similar, or just close-ups of drinks.
Graphics like logos are just as difficult. Many companies have logos that they do not have vectors for, which means you can not resize the image up without quality loss. If you are a business, it is important to have this done. Depending on the complexity of your logo, the cost will vary to have a graphic designer create this file for you.
Luckily, getting a vector file is a one-time cost, unless you change your logo.
Other graphics can include charts, graphs, info graphs, blog content graphics and so on. If you are outsourcing your content writing, be prepared for the cost to be a little higher if you want graphics/images included in the posts. Which is highly recommeded, very few people stop to read just text, it is the image that draws the eye.
